Cops will be out in force across Greater Bendigo this weekend as a premier rock band heads into town.

Good Charlotte is performing at the Bendigo Racecourse in Epsom on Saturday, February 21st in their one and only Victorian gig of their Motel Du Cap world tour, with an estimated 15 thousand people expected to attend the event.

Speaking to Robbo on the Wake Up Call, Acting Senior Sergeant Brad Roberts said it’ll likely be one of the biggest concerts Bendigo has ever hosted.

“We’ll have a large police presence out there… positively engaging with the community, [and] maintaining the public order,” he said.

In the interests of safety, organisers have shared a list of items which cannot be brought to event, while Victoria Police is urging attendees to be wary of their alcohol consumption.

“For the patrons… just plan your day, including safe transport to and from the location,” Snr Sgt Roberts said.

“If you are a designated driver, remember to plan ahead, drive to the conditions, watch for pedestrians and so forth.”

He added that if you plan on driving, it’s best not to drink at all: “We will have a lot of booze buses… set-up around the area.”

Those heading to the event are also urged to stay hydrated with water and keep an eye on their mates.

Fronted by twin brothers Joel and Benjamin “Benji” Madden, Good Charlotte first earned mainstream success in 2002 with their album The Young and the Restless, which charted both in their home country of the United States and here in Australia.

That LP would spawn the singles ‘Girls & Boys’, ‘Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous’ and ‘The Anthem’, and was followed by the hits ‘I Just Wanna Live’ and ‘Dance Floor Anthem (I Don’t Want to be in Love)’ in the same decade.

The band’s look and sound would go on to define an entire generation, hence their continued popularity.
