A young Eaglehawk family are being hailed as everyday heros after discovering and rescuing a displaced long-neck turtle in the gutter of a residential street in Bendigo’s North.

Mother-turned-rescuer Sarah Bremner said after calling an animal rescue hotline, they bundled up the animal in a towel and took it down to Lake Neanger.
She added that it was “really cool” for her children to be involved in the rescue.
“I think it’s really important that we pass on conservation efforts to our children and people in the community,” she said.
