Local MP Calling on Older Australians to Fill Skills Shortages

MP for the Mallee Dr Anne Webster says providing more incentives for older Australians to re-enter the workforce is a no-brainer.

The Liberal/National Coalition announced a policy in June to double the Age and Veteran Service Pension Work
Bonus from $300 to $600 per fortnight, or $1,200 for couples.
 
“This will not only fill job vacancies, it also gives older Australians and veterans the choice to pick up more work if they are willing and able,” Dr Webster said.

Webster added that this could “supplement their fixed income” and address “cost-of-living pressures”
that she says Labor didn’t address in their first budget.
