The repair of Loong the Dragon will be supported by Federal Government funding, after it was defaced in a vandalism attack at Bendigo’s Golden Dragon Museum.

$100,000 will go towards fixing Loong, which is the oldest imperial Chinese dragon in the world and has been part of the nation’s history since Federation.

In a statement, Minister for Multicultural Affairs, Andrew Giles, says there’s no place for this behaviour in Australia and the Government strongly condemns the attack.

Speaking to Gold Central Victoria, the Bendigo Chinese Association’s Doug Lougoon says they’re grateful for the advocacy of the local Federal member Lisa Chesters.
