Police have arrested and charged a man who’s accused of committing sexual assault on a suburban bus in Bendigo.
The man is believed to have boarded a Kangaroo Flat-bound bus at the Bendigo Railway Station around 6.20pm on Saturday, February 14th, before sitting next to an 18-year-old woman who he then sexually assaulted.
The woman moved away soon after, before he allegedly continued to perform “a lewd act”.
On Monday, officers arrested a 33-year-old Epsom resident, who was interviewed by detectives and subsequently charged with rape.
He’s been remanded and is scheduled to appear before the Bendigo Magistrates’ Court on May 13th.
Victoria Police says investigations into the incident are continuing.
Anyone who was travelling on the bus at the time and witnessed the incident, or has further information is being urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
