Investment in roads, drainage and footpaths are among the top priorities in the City of Greater Bendigo’s proposed 2024/25 budget.

If adopted by councillors, some of the budget highlights include $6 million for sealed road pavement works along streets in Epsom and Kangaroo Flat and other parts of Bendigo, $3 million for a road patching program and $900,000 for rehabilitation on the Kennington Reservoir Dam Wall.

Funding will be allocated for the design and delivery of stage 1 works at North Bendigo Recreation Reserve, including a new soccer pavilion and change rooms, and female-friendly facilities at Golden Square Recreation Reserve.

Over $2 million would go towards footpaths, while $476,000 would go towards upgraded public furniture, BBQ’s and drinking fountains.

The proposed budget is based on a 2.75 per cent rate cap, in line with what was set by the State Government.

The budget will be presented at the next council meeting for consideration on Monday.
