Over 10,000 Urgent Blood Donations Needed Each Week

Lifeblood Australia and the Cancer Council are teaming up to encourage locals to roll up their sleeves to support people living with cancer, following World Cancer Day on Sunday.

People living with cancer are the biggest users of donated blood in Australia, and more are reliant on blood than ever before. Currently, more than 10,000 blood donations are needed every week.

Lifeblood’s Executive Director of Donor Experience, Cath Stone, says the next decade will see this number continue to rise.

You can donate blood or plasma at Bendigo Lifeblood on High Street.

To help raise awareness of how donated blood and plasma can help people living with cancer, Melbourne-based designer and blood donor, Beci Orpin, has created a limited-edition bandage, featuring a sunny daffodil print, which will be rolled onto the arms of donors at Bendigo Lifeblood donor centre throughout February.
