Pioneers Guns Realise AFL Dream

Three Bendigo Pioneers players have woken up on cloud nine this morning after realising their AFL dream at last night’s national draft.

Kyneton midfielder and former Pioneer Jack O’Sullivan has been selected by Hawthorn with pick 46, while Echuca forward Noah Long will head West to play for the Eagles.
 
Pioneers captain Harvey Gallagher has ranked highest in terms of pioneers, selected at pick 39 by the Western Bulldogs.

Head coach from the NAB League side, Danny O’Bree, said Gallagher shows great care and compassion, which would have appealed to recruiters. 
 
“During the combine testing, he was actually helping others whilst they were doing their testing.” 
 
He said the leadership qualities are another “impressive part of his development”.

Meanwhile, Utility Jason Gilbee was an unlucky omission in the draft.
