Newly-appointed Essendon coach Brad Scott says the whole team has embraced Bendigo Pioneers gun Harley Reid during his training stint at The Hangar and Queen Elizabeth Oval.

Reid joined the Bombers training schedule in late January as part of the elite NAB AFL Academy program.
Scott told reporters at a press conference at the QEO he’s a “very highly credentialed player already”.
“Probably a little bit like Will Ashcroft at Brisbane, training with the Brisbane Lions one or two years before his draft year.”

The Dons coach added that Reid “looks like he could play AFL football right now.”
The regional community training camp returned for the first time in three years on Friday.

Scott said there’s nothing like getting out to the regions and getting involved with the community.
“Bendigo have been an unbelievable host, we’ve had a great time here, it’s been really well organised and we look forward to coming back again next year.”
