A new City of Greater Bendigo report has deemed reopening Hargreaves Mall to traffic too dangerous and expensive, saying it could cost between $3 million to $5 million.
Councillors will decide whether to re-open the stretch of road, between Williamson St and Mitchell St, which closed in 1982, at a Council meeting on Monday, where they will also consider a three-year action plan to revitalise the mall.
Acting CEO of the City of Greater Bendigo, Brian Westley, says the council is currently considering the report with an understanding that other regional councils have recently made the move.
