Prime Minister Anthony Albanese says the Bendigo-made Bushmasters are a great example of manufacturing that’s thriving in the regions.

Local Labor member Lisa Chesters joined the Prime Minister and defence minister Richard Marles at the Thales manufacturer in North Bendigo on Friday.
Mr Albanese says with 10 local apprentices working in the factory within the past 12 months, it’s an important example of what the Labor Party is trying to push.

“That’s the resurgence we’re seeing in Australian skills and training,” he said.
He added that the Bushmasters are a “critical” tool for Ukraine in its fight against the Russian invasion.
So far, 90 Bushmasters have been committed to help the Eastern European defence forces.

It’s unclear if more will be pledged by the government in future.
