School holidays have arrived in Central Victoria, with plenty to keep the family entertained over the next two weeks.
The Bloom Festival is already up and running across Bendigo, with the Tulip Display along Pall Mall and in the Civic Gardens once again serving as the centrepiece.
It’ll be complimented by the Bloom After Dark light show, a nightly experience that begins this evening (Friday, September 18th) and runs until the third Saturday of the holidays.
The much-loved Village of Gnomes also returns, having moved to the city’s Botanical Gardens where no less than 11 of the cheeky fellows can be found.
Events are being held at the Golden Dragon Museum too, which hosts the Bendigo Chinese Association’s annual Harvest Moon Festival celebrations on September 25th, and a Gold Illumination in the Yi Yuan Gardens each night until October 3rd.
That latter event commemorates 175 years since gold was discovered in the Bendigo Creek, an anniversary being celebrated with two other activities: a pop-up panning experience in the Conservatory Gardens, and a two-day Gold Bash at Laanecoorie.
And of course, if you can’t get enough of a gold fix, you can always visit the Central Deborah Gold Mine to experience the old-school thrills of underground mining.
