Fake guns, police equipment seized at Huntly home

Multiple charges have been laid against a man accused of illegally possessing fake guns and police equipment.

Detectives from the Bendigo Criminal Investigation Unit executed a search warrant at a property on Daisy Street in Huntly, just before 7am on Thursday, June 11th.

Items allegedly seized as a result of that search include:

  • 15 gel blasters shaped as imitation firearms;
  • extendable batons;
  • handcuffs;
  • Victoria Police uniforms, and;
  • fraudulent police certificates.

Vision captured and shared by Victoria Police appears to shows plain-officers carrying paper bags with the seized items from the property.

Officers arrested a 27-year-old male at the scene, who was taken into custody and interviewed regarding the matter.

The man has since been charged with 15 counts of possessing an imitation firearm, two counts of possessing a prohibited weapon, and the unauthorised possession of Victoria Police equipment.

He is now on bail and scheduled to appear before the Bendigo Magistrates Court on October 2nd.
