The region has inched a step closer to a full return of its free-to-air television channels.
Authorities switched on a second low-power transmitter at Mount Alexander earlier this week, giving Central Victorians access to another nine signals plus the standard-definition broadcasts of the three principal commercial channels – i.e. Seven, Nine and Ten.
The signals which returned are:

- TSVN
- RACING.COM
- 9Go!
- 9Life
- GOLD
- 10 Comedy
- Sky News Regional
- Nickelodeon
They join the six other channels which returned on January 20th, and continue to operate from “a single transmitter at reduced power”.
Public broadcasting services – being the ABC and SBS – are operating at “effectively normal power output and coverage levels”.
This follows January’s Ravenswood South bushfire that resulted in transmission infrastructure being critically damaged at Mt Alexander.
The site’s operator, BAI Communications expects the full suite of multi-channels to return at the beginning of 2027 or “possibly earlier”.
“Significant remediation works are ongoing and will continue for some time, though these are not expected to disrupt services for audiences,” the organisation said in its latest update.
“The transmission site has both mains and redundant power available.”
Those wanting to take advantage of the extra content are advised to re-tune their digital TV sets.
