A new exhibition has been unveiled at the Castlemaine Market Building.

The permanent cultural exhibition, titled Boorp Boorp Boondyil, displays soundscapes, projections and art pieces about caring for Country, local bush tucker and the historical and contemporary stories of the local Dja Dja Wurrung peoples’.
Elder Uncle Rick Nelson said it’s important these stories and knowledge are passed down from generation to generation.

“Boorp Boorp Boondyil (passing knowledge to our children) teaches people about the age-old ceremonies of celebration, initiation and renewal that Aboriginal people have been practicing here, and continue to practice, for centuries.”
The project was made possible by a $400,000 investment from the state government’s Regional Tourism Investment Fund.
