Investigations continue this week following two separate car thefts in Greater Bendigo.
The first involved a white Toyota Prado, allegedly stolen from a property in Eaglehawk around 6.15am on Friday, July 24th.
Police spotted the vehicle being driven erratically through the suburb around 15 minutes later, with a patrol car then giving chase.
The pursuit ended when the Prado hit a streetlight at the intersection of Myers and Mundy Streets in Bendigo’s CBD later that morning, with the suspected driver arrested on nearby Mollison Street.
A 27-year-old man of no fixed address has been charged with multiple offences, including:
- two counts of aggravated burglary;
- two counts of thefts of a motor vehicle;
- dangerous driving while being pursued by police;
- exceeding the prescribed concentration of drugs;
- driving when directed to stop, and;
- driving while disqualified.
He was remanded and scheduled appear before the Bendigo Magistrates Court today (July 27th).
Police believe the same man was involved in the theft of another vehicle, a grey Mazda CX-9 from a Junortoun property around 8.20am that same day, with a female accomplice driving the second car away.
As of this morning, the whereabouts of the Mazda and the woman are unknown.
