The recipients in the latest round of Mount Alexander Shire’s Event Grants program have been confirmed.
A combined $29 thousand in council funds is going toward 15 community events, including music festivals, get-togethers for car enthusiasts, artistic activities, and a world-record attempt for the most people wearing Australian music t-shirts in one place.
In a chat with Robbo on the Wake Up Call, Shire CEO Darren Fuzzard offered his congratulations to all the recipients, adding they’re pleased to be supporting both much-loved events and “new ideas” that promote the region’s “local arts, culture and creative community”.
Among the events funded in the latest round are:
- the Castlemaine Town Folk Festival, Castlemaine Rotary Truck Show, Maldon in Winter festival, Maldon Folk Festival and Mt Tarrengower Historic Hill Climb, receiving $3k each;
- Ravens Theatre Company’s upcoming production of Waiting for Godot, which earned $2k, and;
- the Newstead Young Writers Festival and Hot Variety 5.0, both getting $1k.
A full list of the latest grant recipients and their associated events can be seen on the Shire’s website.
Applications for the next round of council’s Event Grants program will open in August.
