All six will be sharing in $2 million of state government funding, which is being offered to a total of 37 schools across regional Victoria impacted by January’s fires.

Minister for Education and Deputy Premier Ben Carroll confirmed the funding on Wednesday (February 4th).

“We want our students and staff across the state to know we are behind them every step of the way, and help restore a sense of safety and calm to our school communities,” Mr Carroll said in a statement.

“We know the significant damage these fires can bring to our students’ emotional wellbeing, and we are putting every effort in place to mitigate the trauma and disruption they have caused.”

The money aims to enable fire-impacted schools access to increased recovery and wellbeing support for students through the Schools Mental Health Menu, with a focus on on trauma-informed support and disaster, grief and loss programs.
