Facilities at fifty Victorian schools – including some in our region – will be upgraded as part of an ongoing initiative.
The state government confirmed the latest batch of recipients in its Planned Maintenance Program on Monday, June 22nd.
In total, $14 million worth of funds were allocated, being delivered to schools statewide.
Among the local recipients is Winters Flat Primary School in Castlemaine, which has been allocated $251,522.59 for revarnishing works, roof works and switchboard works, and to achieve compliance on its Shelter-in-Place building.
The latter refers to an onsite structure that offers temporary shelter “as a last resort” during emergency events, such as a bushfire.
Similarly, Hepburn Primary School was allocated $414,875.83 for compliance works on its own Shelter-in-Place building.
To the east, Axedale Primary School is getting $83,352.44 for clean-down, drainage, repairing, roof and switchboard works.
“These projects are about supporting growing communities and ensuring every child has access to a high-quality learning environment,” Education Minister Ben Carroll said in a statement.
